Growing up in Southeast Asia, many of us have fond childhood memories forged in front of the TV screen, captivated by the heroic battles of Optimus Prime and the Autobots. For countless fans in countries like Malaysia and Singapore, we know Optimus Prime and the Autobots through the Michael Bay's Transformers movies. However,  "The Transformers: The Movie" was more than just animated entertainment; it was an iconic piece of the 80s that shaped our imagination and love for storytelling. 

This year marks the 40th anniversary of "The Transformers: The Movie," and we propose a heartfelt tribute to celebrate this milestone while honoring the legacy of Peter Cullen, the legendary voice behind Optimus Prime, who sadly passed away on August 26th.

We call upon Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas to screen "The Transformers: The Movie" in theaters across Southeast Asia. Not only would this be a fitting homage to Cullen's incredible career, but it would also offer fans, old and new, a chance to relive the thrilling adventure that set the gold standard for transforming narratives in animation.

Peter Cullen's voice guided us through countless battles, his portrayal of Optimus Prime ("Be Strong Enough To Be Gentle") inspiring generations with messages of leadership, compassion, and courage. His passing has left a void in the hearts of Transformer fans worldwide, and screening the movie is a way we can collectively express our gratitude and celebrate his monumental contribution.

Moreover, this screening could pave the way for a cultural renaissance of 80s animated classics, particularly for the newer generations who may not have experienced these masterpieces in a cinema setting. It's an opportunity for families to connect across generations, sharing the timeless stories and their characters who have become cultural icons.

In addition to honoring Peter Cullen's legacy, the screenings would support the local cinema industry, create nostalgic experiences for audiences, and generate buzz and economic activity in the area. Please also screen the "Optimus Prime: Awakened" short before the "The Transformers: The Movie"  so that we can mourn this legend.
