Sedgwick County Jail records show Austin McDowell was booked Wednesday evening for indecent liberties with a child and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He was held on $100,000 bond Thursday afternoon.
WPD spokesperson Kristopher Gupilan said that last Thursday, detectives with the Exploited and Missing Child Unit began following up on a report of sexual contact between a man and child. The investigation led to McDowell's arrest.
A booking report released Thursday morning indicates the alleged victim is between the ages of 14 and 16.
The case will be presented to the district attorney's office next week."

This blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of a student, coupled with the lenient legal punishment, is a gross injustice. The rape even occurred on school grounds within a classroom. No individual deserves to endure such exploitation and violation.
