Langdale Hall is currently named after former university president Noah Langdale Jr. who, along with the Board of Regents, in 1959 ignored the ruling of the District Court in Hunt v. Arnold and did not allow desegregation at Georgia State. I believe that as one of Georgia's most diverse schools, the building names of this campus should reflect this and be renamed for someone who fought for racial justice on campus, not for someone who defended their exclusion. I propose that the building should be renamed for one of the black students who were denied entry to the university after they sued the school and won. These names include Myra Elliot, Barbara Pace Hunt, and Iris Mae Welch.
