It's been 9 months since decapod crustaceans were included in the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act and yet their suffering continues...
They continue to be sold by online retailers, like Amazon, and sent alive to consumers. During the journey through the postal and delivery system, these fragile animals are at risk of injury, suffocation, and death. Once delivered, they face inappropriate storage and potentially painful at-home slaughter by untrained individuals with no training or equipment.
That’s why we’re calling on the UK Government to support a complete ban on this cruel practice.
TAKE ACTION
We’ve drafted a pre-prepared letter to MPs asking them to support a ban and enforce legislation. Simply input your postcode to find your MP and hit ‘send’: https://buff.ly/3YUYy4I
