We are a family run business called Pipinchick, our business relies on the import of pet chicken from the EU for back garden keepers. New Brexit legislation has changed the rules on imports from our hatchery in France that we have been working with for the past 8 years. A small detail has changed on the new post Brexit import certificate which has now made our French hatchery non compliant.

We work with other small, family run businesses in the U.K and the EU which will be severely affected.

Currently there are 1000s of pet chickens which are no longer able to be imported and will possibly have to be destroyed solely because of a change in legislation due to Brexit.

We estimate that through the supply chain 16 jobs will be effected, and multiple small family run businesses will suffer, not to mention the thousands of pet chickens which can not currently be imported. Our business alone already has over 1000 pre orders from U.K poultry keepers who are looking forward to their new pets this year. 

We have been working hard with our hatchery   to be compliant for next year, but for this year the late Brexit deal had left us with no time to implement the changes.

Please sign to get the Government to change the current legislation or issue a dispensation for this year to save our business, people’s jobs and the birds themselves.
