GenAI: Blurring Reality for Political Gain

GenAI: Blurring Reality for Political Gain
The Issue
(above banner generated using AI Tools)
With Artificial Intelligence taking the world by storm, it's very easy to be whipped around, disoriented, and wondering what's actually real anymore. I remember a phrase my grandmother used often "Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear". This rings true especially in the light of AI generated content; however, I'd hazard a step further.
The truth is, it's incredibly difficult to tell if AI generated video and audio is authentically real anymore, with people running the AI content through other AI tools to identify if it's AI...(It's rough).
This is why I'm proposing a major legal overhaul in regards to AI generated Content.
Disclaimer: This is not an Anti-AI campaign, nor is it meant to harmfully persuade individuals to not utilize Artificial Intelligence to generate art, audio, videos, or other assets.
Scope: AI Generated Audio & Video Content depicting real life scenarios without explicit in-file metadata that can be interpreted by humans, identifying key details of it's nature.
Content Author: Individual(s) and/or account that was used to sign up for the service
Location Data: Region where the content was generated
AI Tool utilized: Platform that performed the generation of the content
Time & Date stamp: Time and Date the content was generated
Purpose: Reduction of political weaponization of AI generated content, for the support or opposition of any political party, person - deceased or living, or other entity protected by constitutional or inherited rights.
---------
Strategy: Petition to law makers to raise the priority of AI regulations, ideally resulting in more transparency on whether content has been generated by AI. This focuses heavily on Multimedia such as video, and audio, but should also consider written content as well.
--------
Contexts: Several social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube have already begun suggesting to content creators to identify whether their content is in-whole or in-part generated by Artificial Intelligence with the utilization of tags on the webpage.
--------
Suggestions: Introduce platform mechanisms, resulting in legally enforceable practices to distinguish AI created Content in 1 or more ways.
Require AI Platforms to include Meta-data on all content generated on the platform to include human-readable, immutable identification that includes the name of the platform, the time and date, and location data.
Enforce content creator compliance with identification of AI generated Content, with negative consequences such as content strikes, IP challenges, account suspension, account bans, etc.
Require social media websites to require declaration of AI generated content by use of tags, metadata, content filterability, etc.
--------
AI Companies have developed incredible software and systems using bleeding edge technology, and provided them with almost no paywall. Although there are safeguards being put in place for written content, and potentially more strategies; It is crucial that AI generated content be declared for what it is, in order to ensure authenticity and fidelity of actual live-recorded materials without AI tools.
Having access to essentially all the content ever produced everywhere, staying educated and aware of real events should not be complicated by malicious use of generated content, worsened by how realistic this content appears.
Without explicit, human-readable identifiers, the lines between reality and generated content blur more and more, with many parties already taking advantage of the enabled, unenforceable malicious behaviors.
An ethics committee that is focused on AI Generated Content should be established as a multi-tier entity, comprised of individuals, international governments, and subject matter experts. It is important that these matters are processed by as many demographics as possible, as this openly impacts the public globally.
Please help me bring awareness to not only the capabilities of AI platforms, but also to illuminate the necessity to regulate the platforms socially.
Thank you for reading this!
