Julian Standen has just announced via an interview (on Working Class Audio's Youtube channel) that Gearslutz will be changing their name. He has expressed compassion and understanding for the fact that the name was offensive and inappropriate for the workplace, and would like the site to have a name that is more inclusive and friendly.

Jules also personally commented on this petition, stating:

"Hey everyone,

Your thoughtful petition has generated debate on both social media and our forum, and we hear you. The team and I recognise and agree that it is now time for the site to move forward. Gearslutz will change its name. We have not yet decided what it will be, but we can assure you that the new name will be inclusive, and will stand the test of time.

This important process is going to take a while as it is a significant technical task. Thus, we are asking you to bear with us as we embark on it.

Thanks and here’s to the future!

PS. Prior to the name change, anyone visiting the forum via www.gearsz.com will be able to browse the site with our alternate logo Gearsz.com displayed, (perhaps bookmark it?) the logo can also be changed by accessing the drop-down menu on the bottom left and selecting the alternate ‘Gearsz’ logo."

This is an amazing step for equality in the industry and inspiring for anyone who has felt like their concerns or thoughts haven't been taken seriously in the past. Thank you Jules and everyone at Gearslutz for hearing us out and taking the right step towards progress. You have gained the support of many in the process.

Please note that Jules notes in the video that changing the name requires many logistical moves, and that while it won't be immediate, it is their top priority.

Thank you to everyone who signed, shared, and helped spark this change!! Rock on!!
