GCSE revamp: 7 compulsory, One Major Science Pathway, One optional: 9 Subjects only

GCSE revamp: 7 compulsory, One Major Science Pathway, One optional: 9 Subjects only
The Issue
Dear Education Minister,
We, the undersigned students, parents, and educators, fervently request your thoughtful consideration of a proposal to enhance the GCSE curriculum.
Our aim is to foster truly engaged learning, empower student choice, and better prepare our young people for a rapidly evolving world.
We propose a framework where all students will study essential core subjects in Mathematics, English(Language & Literature - single subject), Algorithmic Thinking, Sports, International Affairs, Skilled Trades, Artform, and either of the two distinct science pathways: a Natural Science Pathway (with a main focus on either Biology, Physics, or Chemistry, supported by the other two), and a Social Science Pathway (with a main focus on either Economics & Finance, Politics, or Law, supported by the other two).
This structure would allow students to choose one primary scientific interest to delve into deeply, complemented by a broader scientific understanding. This personalised approach to learning, with a total of 9 subjects which includes optional elective, promises to cultivate genuine passion, develop critical thinking, and equip students with the diverse skills truly needed for future success.
We believe this reform will not only enrich the educational journey but also empower our youth to become innovative and well-rounded contributors to society. Thank you for your time and consideration of this vital matter.
