SAVE OUR SIKH SCHOOL
from the unfair and unjust decision by the Department of Education

We continue our fight to keep Khalsa Academies Trust at Khalsa Secondary Academy.

Dear Fellow Parents and Carers,

We, the official voice of parents at Khalsa Secondary Academy have been inundated with both support and questions relating to the decision made by the Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC) last week.

We would like to clarify the situation for you and give you the chance to ask any further questions.

  • In principle the RSC have announced that Khalsa Primary School is the chosen sponsor to take over Khalsa Secondary Academy however this does NOT mean that KPS has taken over KSA at this moment.
  • As you are aware Khalsa Academies Trust along with the parents of Khalsa Secondary Academy have launched a legal challenge against the unfair and unjust decision made by the Department of Education which may take several months to complete.

What is this unfair decision?

Ofsted rate KSA as inadequate in January 2020.

  • KSA should be assigned a HMI (Her Majesty’s Inspector) to support the school. Never happened at KSA to date even after several requests from the Headteacher.
  • No monitoring visits by Ofsted and no re- inspection carried out at KSA. (Why the hasty decision in lockdown and a pandemic?)
  • Procedures set out by the Department of Education for Faith Schools were not followed and we do not have same rights as Catholic and Anglican schools.
  • Termination Notice issued June 4th 2020 is therefore completely unfair.

It is now even clearer that the Department of Education do not get their decisions right all the time as the chaos with A level results is a prime example. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson says he is “incredibly sorry for all those students who have been through this”.

Once again playing with our children’s lives.

Who is the Khalsa Academies Trust?

  • 7 years as a Multi Academy Trust running 2 good and one outstanding school in both Primary and Secondary schools.
  • Board of trustees are world class educationalists, Safeguarding, SEND, HR and Finance experts with 20-30 years of experience in their respective key areas of governance and leadership.
  • KAT are the founders of these 3 schools.
  • Academic achievement puts KSA in top 10-15% for GCSE nationally and in the top 5% for A Levels nationally with an incredible result of 100% pass rate in all subjects.

Once again, we clarify that our fight back is not with any other organisation but the fightback remains with the unfair and unjust decision taken by the Department of Education.
