This week I had the chance to talk to a reporter at Inside Hockey about our petition and why the NHL needs to do its part to address sexual assault and domestic violence. I also spoke specifically about the league’s new player education initiative as important, but not enough to combat violence against women: “Even the best educational programs can only do so much, though. Some players might genuinely not know that these behaviors are wrong, and those are the ones who stand to gain from education. Unfortunately, there are also men who already know what they’re doing is wrong and don’t care, or who will never accept that women deserve to be treated as fellow human beings.
