Friends, thank you from the bottom of my heart for signing my petition! In less than 1 week, over 70,000 signatures have been collected and the campaign continues to grow. On Friday, I spoke with two representatives from Gap Inc.’s corporate office, and they made it clear that our voices are being heard. Becoming a fur-free corporation is a topic of conversation that has reached Gap Inc.’s highest executives.
Gap Inc. explained that Intermix is a more recent acquisition that carries clothing labels from a variety of designers. Clothing at Intermix is not directly manufactured by Gap Inc., therefore the decision to become a fur-free corporation involves many more steps involving multiple decision makers. As such, the transformation into a fur-free corporation might not be as expedient as the victory we saw with the Piperlime campaign (https://www.change.org/p/help-rabbits-and-foxes-slaughtered-for-fur-at-piperlime-stores), where all fur was removed within days of acquiring 52,000 signatures.
I am optimistic because even with Piperlime, they were willing to say “Piperlime will no longer sell real fur products, whether they are made by our company or not. This is an expansion beyond our existing policy of prohibiting real fur in our branded products.”
Regardless of the steps involved in becoming fur free for Gap Inc. globally, we need to make it clear that this process must begin immediately. It’s a busy holiday shopping season, and animals continue to suffer and lives continue to be lost in the name of fashion. The bottom line is that Intermix is owned by Gap Inc., therefore Gap Inc. endorses the sale of fur and profits from the continual slaughter of fur-bearing animals.

Please continue to place pressure on Gap Inc. by sharing the petition with friends on Facebook and Twitter. It is imperative that we gather as many signatures of possible to show Gap Inc. how many customers are being lost.
Remember that Gap Inc. owns Gap branded stores as well as Old Navy, Banana Republic, Athleta, Piperlime, and Intermix and shop accordingly. If profits decline, our voices become louder.
