Dear Friends, I have good news! Firstly, I know it has been a very long time since I have posted an update, but I have not given up on this effort. Since I was last in touch, I have continued to contact GAP Inc. and have also regularly reached out to INTERMIX. As you may have noticed, INTERMIX quietly stopped selling fur at the end of 2016. All items for sale are faux fur. Until recently, each time I inquired about their status as a fur-free corporation, there has been no formal commitment. I was repeatedly told that there was no guarantee that they will remain fur-free in the future, as it depends what customers demand. Less than a month ago, I was able to confirm that INTERMIX now has an official fur-free policy written in their employee handbook. The representative I spoke with confirmed that INTERMIX will no longer sell fur and read the corresponding section of the handbook, which unequivocally states that the company is fur-free. While this is excellent news, it is not enough. With the guidance from the Humane Society of the United States, I have decided to pressure INTERMIX to publicly state that they are fur-free. If there is not a public statement on their website, there is no standard to hold them to, as the employee handbook is not accessible to most. We do not want INTERMIX to return to selling fur, an option that is much more likely without a formal public commitment. Please help me urge INTERMIX to make their fur-free statement public.
