1. It was a great day today.

The Erie Times-News Sunday 12/10/23 edition

  • Had a story by A.J. Rao on the front page - Public demands engagement
  • Your Turn by Lorraine Dolan Guest Columnist Protect Blasco Library, end Gannon lease

2. Demonstration at St. Peter Cathedral was well attended. Members of Keep Our Library Public organized this peaceful demonstration to call attention to the lease issue and to answer any questions from church-goers and clergy and to ask them to tell Bishop Persico, head of the Erie diocese and Chairman of the Gannon Board, to rescind the lease. The lease was negotiated behind closed doors, is a disservice to Erie County taxpayers because of its terms and will take away space from a public institution open to all Erie residents in favor of a private institution.

The star of today's demonstration was Matilda the cat with her very appropriate sign "Fish belong in my Belly! Not the Library!"

3. And the news media showed up to cover the event!

Erie Times-News - A.J. Rao - will post when available

4. Monday 12/11/23 through Friday 12/15/23 from Noon to 1 PM we will continue to demonstrate in front of the Gannon Administration Bldg on 6th and Peach. Join us!

5. Tuesday 12/12/23 from 5 to 5:45 PM We will also be demonstrating in front of the Erie County Courthouse before the County Council Meeting and then we will attend the meeting which starts at 6:00. Plan on joining us and speak up. You can have 3 minutes to share why the Gannon Blasco lease must be rescinded!

6. Sunday 12/17/23 from 10:00 to 11:30 we will have a peaceful demonstration in front of St Patrick Church on 130 E 4th St, Erie, PA.

7. LAST BUT NOT LEAST WE NEED YOUR HELP IN GETTING OTHERS TO SIGN OUR PETITION. GET EVERYONE YOU KNOW THAT LIVES IN ERIE COUNTY OR IS A GANNON ALUMNI ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD TO SIGN THE PETITION! We need to put pressure on Gannon administrators and County Council to rescind the lease!
