We have been protesting the Gannon lease at the Blasco Library since our rally in front of the Blasco Library on November 4. Every weekday from noon to 1 PM except, holiday breaks, no matter what the weather we have tried to educate the public and bring attention to Gannon about this very shady deal that Gannon made with County Executive Brenton Davis.
We also protested on Saturdays in front of St Peter's Cathedral on 10th and Sassafras to bring attention to Bishop Persico because he is the Chairman of the Gannon Board.
Yet we have been unable to get any coverage since after the Rally at Blasco. What is happening at the Blasco Library is enough to make anyone worry. First behind the backs of Erie County Citizens, Gannon agreed to a lease with Davis for space to change the Blasco Library to fit their needs for the Great Lakes Water Resource Center when there is already space in the Tom Ridge Environmental Center.
Then on December 1, Karen Pierce, the library director quit. Then this week the Manager of the Children's Library at Blasco was escorted from the library. It appears after 10 years at the Library he was fired.
There was an article in the Erie Times-News about the resignation of Karen Pierce. We have been requesting coverage by the TV stations News Departments but they just drive by and act like they don't notice. And they have yet to respond.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO EDUCATE ALL the People you know that live in Erie County and/or are Gannon Alumni and we need you to ask them to sign our petition. Currently we have a little over 2,500 signatures between the online petition and the paper copies but we really should have over 10,000 with your help! If you are the only one in your family or group of friends that signed please ask them to sign too.
And join us Sunday at 10:30 at St Peter's Cathedral to help us reach more people with our message: KEEP OUR LIBRARY PUBLIC!
