100 SUPPORTERS! The Journey's Not Over! Also, I'M FAMOUS!

*THIS DEVELOPMENT IS MOSTLY STORYTELLING, IF YOU WANT TO AVOID RANDOM STORYTELLING, READ UP TO WHERE IT SAYS "JONATHAN'S PARENTS"* OK, so this is my first time posting on here in a while. Let me just start off by saying to those who don't know me well but found me here and wonder about my whereabouts. I'M NOT DEAD! Over the past number of months I have basically ignored this petition because, well, I'm lazy. The fact is, I'm still dedicated to it. I just haven't necessarily found a reason to update. Granted, I did unexpectedly meet one former King of the Nerds contestant (Colby from season 3), one contestant's parents (Jonathan from season 3), along with both "King of the Nerds" hosts, Curtis Armstrong and Robert Carradine during the second half of 2017. I talked about the petition to Jonathan's parents when I met them, and I even provided a link to it for them. Have they visited? I honestly don't know. But if they did, cool, and thanks! And speaking of thanking supporters, I want to thank all of you, because so far, 100 of you have signed up to support this very petition! I don't know what else to say except thank you very much, and this quest has not been finished yet! So far, no network has come forward and picked this show up. I know, it's unfortunate, but you know what? I'm STILL not done! I still can't go on this petition journey alone, and clearly based on our results, a hundred people is not enough to get a show like this back (unless someone actually picks it up soon in which case, yay!) I want you to sign this petition if you haven't! I want you to share it with your friends, loved ones, whoever! If you sign this, remind any of the show's crew or contestants about it. Whether it be in person or online! I don't care! "King of the Nerds" has brought people together for three years, let's hope that this petition can bring lots of people together to bring a show back that brings people together! Redundant? Yes. But I don't care! And now as a bonus, let me tell you what went down as I met each person who has some association with "King of the Nerds." JONATHAN'S PARENTS (JULY 12, 2017): I met these two lovely people. I won't identify who they are because, well, I'm not sure how much privacy they want. Not to mention, as I'm writing this, I actually forget their names if I even heard them or stumbled upon them. I was at the Brookine Booksmith in Brookline, MA and I was there for an event where Curtis Armstrong was promoting his new book, "Revenge of the Nerd." They were sitting in a row in front of me, they were with someone, and that someone noticed my shirt. They noticed my free "King of the Nerds" t-shirt that I won in a contest back in March 2015. Who are they? A friend? A relative? I don't know. I'm not trying to stalk them creepily so that information is unimportant to me. That person noticed it, and she wondered if it had to do with the "King of the Nerds" show. She then points out, two people sitting nearby, are pointing out their son was on the show and won. I knew IMMEDIATELY who they were talking about. I exclaimed with a question just to confirm who it was exactly. And my thoughts were correct. I thought this was a dream, and I even told them I was trying to bring this show back on the air. Being provided with materials necessary to do so, I write down a link to this petition on a piece of paper so they can sign this petition. We then get on with our lives afterwards. COLBY (season 3) (November 10, 2017): This was during my visit to Providence, RI while I was attending Rhode Island Comic Con. I was walking around part of the main convention area inside the Rhode Island Convention alongside my sister, and all of sudden, I see someone who stuck out to me. So I ask the guy as he's walking, "Excuse me?" He turns around and wonders what I have to say. "Are you Colby Burnett?" I ask. He confirms he is. I introduce myself, and I even point out that we met online in the past. He may not have remembered me exactly, but he remembered an event when we were on a Google Hangout together with a couple of other "King of the Nerds" contestants (Zachary, season 2) (Ori, season 3). We didn't talk too much about "King of the Nerds." We talked a bit more about "Jeopardy!" before we set off to do our own thing. I saw him again Sunday around the same area, and I wanted to talk about his experience on "500 Questions" and the show itself, but I never got around to it. There's always next time! ROBERT CARRADINE (NOVEMBER 10 & 12, 2017): During my experience at Rhode Island Comic Con, Bobby was one the many guests on the convention lineup. He was there as part of the con's "Revenge of the Nerds" reunion. So I found him at his table, and we say hello to each other, I ask him how he's doing, it's all fine and dandy. So I tell him a story that he may know. I have a Twitter, and I had it for over a month during what personally was not a good vacation in Delray Beach, FL. I wasn't a huge fan of the restaurants we went to (except the pool bar at the hotel), I took some time to see a movie there that ultimately was a piece of trash, and it was a reminder that my mother and father were not loving each other anymore, and I was meeting my replacements in regards to family. Oh yeah, and while I wasn't too familiar with "Star Trek," They're nice people, but the thought is scary and I honestly felt more depressed than enthusiastic in the very end. But out of all the downfalls, one moment stood out in the crowd, as the best moment of the entire vacation. I get a notification on my phone as I'm eating at a restaurant near my hotel, and I have a follow on Twitter from user @bobbyislewis, AKA, Robert Carradine. So basically, that moment put a smile on my face, and made a hamster wheel of enthusiasm spin in my head. So he guesses as to who I am. He utters the words "Jack Drees." I tell him he's right. He's just saying things like, "What a trip. THE Jack Drees. You're famous. How far up are you?" I reply saying 30 minutes north of Boston, but maybe he meant in terms of my Twitter followers, I don't know. So I get an autograph from him on Friday, talk with him a couple of more times on Sunday (one to take a photo, one unexpected encounter in a hotel bar before I headed home). I was super glad to meet him and I truly hope this is the first encounter we have to start off an interesting journey. If this show comes back, who knows? Maybe there's a chance we'll meet again. CURTIS ARMSTRONG (JULY 12, 2017): I've already met Curtis once in 2015 during my first year of Rhode Island Comic Con. So when I heard about his book tour and his presence at the Brookline Booksmith, I had to jump on the opportunity of getting there just to say hi and support him. Armstrong spoke for an hour, reading various sections of his book. I mainly recall him reading the introduction and one of the earliest parts of his chapter on "Revenge of the Nerds." In this chapter by the way, Curtis admits that he personally hated perhaps his most recognizable character on sight, AKA Booger. After discussing the book and a Q&A session, Curtis starts signing autographs for everyone at a table. Since I brought my book with me since it arrived at my house the day prior, I took the opportunity to get the book signed and say hello to Curtis. I said hello to him, thinking maybe he'd know who I am, and then he doesn't seem to. I let him know that my name is Jack, he might know me, but nothing is coming out of his mind as to my true identity. I soon spit out the words "Jack from Rhode Island," which refers to the convention where we met, not where I live, considering how I live in Massachusetts. Then Curtis is suddenly in a freakout mode. He just goes "Oh, Jack!" He apologizes for the lack of recognition, to which I personally can get because remembering names is not anywhere in my wheelhouse. We have a short conversation, he signs my book, we get a picture together, then I go off into the pouring rain. CURTIS ARMSTRONG (NOVEMBER 10, 11, & 12, 2017): So it's that time of year. Rhode Island Comic Con. This is the first place I've ever met Curtis. This is my third year going in a row, and I couldn't wait to say hi to him again. As mentioned, Bobby was there too. I met him first because I already said hi to Curtis multiple times and I figured I'd give Bobby a shot. I've already had an amazing couple of minutes talking to Bobby where he was almost fanboying in front of me. To which I told him, "If I were famous, I'd be in YOUR position." I didn't intend on being rude, I hope I didn't come off that way, I was just going for humor. I don't know what Bobby thought of that comment, but in case he reads this, just thought I'd get that out there. Anyway, back to Curtis. The guest I visit next is Curtis, and he's sitting right next to Bobby. How convenient! I get in line, wait for a minute or two, and when I get to say hello to him, I hear him greeting me, and all of a sudden, he sees what I'm wearing (same sunglasses, t-shirt, and sweatshirt from our first meeting). The next thing out of his mouth is "OH!" He knows who I am! He gets up, walks over to me, and we begin to hug each other. We engage in a conversation, about other people here, I told him I saw "Ray," a movie he's in, which he loves. And of course, he knows the drill, he's got markers in front of him, so that means it's autograph time! This time, he's signing a picture of everyone who's in Lambda Lambda Lambda from "Revenge of the Nerds." Bobby signed that as well. Then we take a picture. Actually, that's wrong. We take THREE pictures. In all of them, I wouldn't say I look ugly, but wouldn't be surprised if someone pointed out I looked "weird." The autograph by the way, was thirty dollars, so I'm just about ready to hand over some money, but Curtis says not to worry about it. Curtis, YOU DID NOT HAVE TO DO THAT. Thanks very much, that was super generous! I tell him I'll attend his panel later during the night, which I did, and it was a blast! The panel contained a conversation between the cast members of "Revenge of the Nerds." Moderated by the lovely Clare Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), the panel contained tons of great stories and lovable moments. I met with Curtis a couple more times before the end of the convention. On Saturday we met once in the hotel I was staying at, because I ran into him in the elevator lobby as I was heading back to my room. I just said hi and went into my dedicated elevator. The last time we met was on Sunday, the con was almost over, and we were both heading home. We shook hands, talked for a second, and we went our separate ways. I was going to ask him if he wanted help packing up, but another part of me felt that would just be an invasion of personal space maybe. I mean, it is a good deed, but there's something about that question that I imagined feeling intrusive. Seriously though, Curtis, is a gem. I don't know if he would technically call him and I pals, but I would. I don't mean to sound creepy, but I honestly feel like he and I have established, at the very least, a minor connection since 2015. I would like to thank Curtis and everyone else affiliated with "King of the Nerds" for being a part of my life, and I wouldn't be the same if something like this hadn't occurred.
