Loblaw/Zehrs Stop the Sea of plastic packaging! Create 1 (or more) Plastic Free Aisles!

Loblaw/Zehrs Stop the Sea of plastic packaging! Create 1 (or more) Plastic Free Aisles!
The Issue
A recent CBC Marketplace segment (Jan 11, 2019) hilighted plastic waste in Canadian grocery stores. Loblaws, Shoppers Drugmart, Zehrs and Superstore offer A Sea of Plastic Packaging damaging to our planet with little alternate choice. Meanwhile, Thornton Budgens Grocery in the U.K. provided 1700 sustainable packaged items in 10 weeks time! This problem CAN be addressed!
Galen Weston, Executive Chairman of Loblaw Companies: Please create at least one PLASTIC FREE aisle!!!! Only 9% of plastic packaging is recycled in Canada. The rest is sent to landfills or offshore and improperly disposed of and/or burnt. Much will end up in our waterways and oceans. Whales, dolphins, turtles, birds and fish swallow this garbage. Many die painful deaths and some face extinction. Smaller plastic particles make it into the food chain and onto our plates. And plastic use is only expected to quadruple by 2050!
By offering more eco-friendly supplier products and packaging, Loblaw can show corporate leadership as the world faces this urgent crisis. Please kickstart this movement with 1 initial Plastic Free Aisle! Consumers across Canada are demanding solutions. Please ACT NOW!
