Act NOW to STOP the DeVol Crematorium ---

DeVol Funeral Home has submitted an application to the City of Gaithersburg to build a CREMATORIUM at 14 E Deer Park Road.

* This is a residential neighborhood: mostly small, single-family residences with two apartment buildings directly across the street from the proposed crematorium site. We do not want a crematorium – blowing the ashes of dead bodies – near our homes, parks, and schools. 

* There is only one other crematorium in Montgomery County, Pumphrey Funeral Home and in Downtown Bethesda.  Its zoning is grandfathered from XX years ago and would never be approved today.

* According to Montgomery County Planning, a crematorium is considered and industrial operation. This has no place in a quiet residential community.

* Any industrial use proposal needs to be placed in an are zoned and designated for industrial purposes.
