Call Gov. Scott this week: only two more weeks until HB 759 becomes law!

Please call Governor Scott (850-488-7146) right away and ask him to veto the GRU governance bill (HB 759). Then ask five friends to do the same. Without Gov. Scott's veto, this bill will come into effect on June 6th. Let Gov. Scott know that you would be directly affected by this legislation and that the bill is just as flawed this year as it was when he vetoed it last year.
The best argument to make is that HB 759 will force a referendum on city voters that, if passed, would bloat local government. It will create an entirely new level of bureaucracy headed with unaccountable political appointees who would have an unlimited budget and zero constraints on spending and borrowing.
Despite hearing opposition from hundreds of local residents and elected officials, Tallahassee politicians have struck another blow against local governance. Keith Perry and Chuck Clemons are forcing a community-wide referendum in next year's ballot on their deeply flawed and unaccountable GRU Governance plan.
Governor Scott vetoed this bill last year and he's our last chance at stopping it again this year. Please call him right away and let him know that you oppose this assault on our community's right to home rule.
