Adamstown GAA in Wexford is the latest GAA club to organise a fundraiser at a greyhound track where dogs suffer and die.
The upcoming fundraiser at Enniscorthy track is scheduled to take place just weeks after the shocking “RTE Investigates: Greyhounds Running for Their Lives” documentary revealed that 6,000 greyhounds are killed every year because they are not fast enough to win races. It also highlighted injuries suffered by dogs at tracks and the illegal doping and mutilation of dogs. https://www.facebook.com/546431158708003/photos/a.685990218085429/3210854912265601
Adamstown GAA should reject this nasty industry and side with the majority who want the government to stop giving millions of euros to racing and instead direct it to the sports clubs, health groups, homeless charities, schools and animal rescue centres crying out for funds. Since 2001, a quarter of a billion euros of taxpayers’ money has been handed over to the Irish Greyhound Board, including €16.8 million for 2019.
ACTION ALERT
Join us in appealing to Adamstown GAA to show compassion and stop fundraising at a greyhound track. Such fundraisers are helping to keep the dog-killing greyhound industry alive - tracks take a significant commission on ticket sales and profit from gambling and food and drink sales on the night.

Since 2001, the Irish Government has paid out around a quarter of a billion euros of taxpayers' money to greyhound racing, including €16.8 million for 2019. Following the shocking RTE Investigates revelations about cruelty and killing, it is time for these grants to be finally ended. Not a single cent more of public funds should end up in this shameful industry. Contact Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe now and tell them to stop .
