Thank you so much to everyone who has signed, shared, and spoken up so far. Your support is already helping raise national awareness of what our colleges are facing.
Across Scotland, colleges have endured years of chronic underfunding, around 60% real-terms cuts since 2007 and 20% since 2021. This has pushed many colleges to crisis point, with several warning they could run out of money within the next year if nothing changes.
These cuts affect everything:
- courses being reduced or removed
- facilities closing
- fewer opportunities for young people and adults
- pressure on staff
- reduced support for students who need it most
- impacts on local communities and local employers
This is not sustainable, and it is not the future we want for Further Education.
Our petition calls on the Scottish Government to reform the way Scotland’s colleges are funded, so that communities like ours can continue to learn, grow, and thrive.
What you can do now:
✔️ Share the petition again with friends, family, colleagues, community groups
✔️ Tag your MSPs and MPs when you post
✔️ Help us keep this conversation visible by sharing why FE matters to you
Together, we are building a strong, united voice for Scotland’s colleges. Thank you for standing with us.
