Fund Emergency Housing and Cash Aid for Domestic Violence Survivors
The Issue
Sometimes it is not love that keeps a woman in an unhealthy situation. Sometimes it is financial dependence. Sometimes it is having children to raise and not knowing how she is going to provide for them alone. Sometimes she already knows she deserves better, but she is scared to start from zero and rebuild her entire life from the ground up.
That is exactly why so many survivors, especially single mothers, need more than judgment and questions. They need real support at the moment they are trying to leave. When a woman is calculating the cost of safety against rent, childcare, groceries, transportation, and the fear of having nowhere to go, leaving is not a simple choice. It is a survival decision, and too many people still act like it should be easy.
I am calling on local leaders to fund emergency housing and direct cash assistance for domestic violence survivors so women and their children have a real path out. Safe shelter, short-term rental help, basic living support, and childcare assistance can be the difference between staying trapped and getting free. If we truly care about survivors, then we need systems that make leaving possible, not just slogans that tell them what they should have done.
Before we ask why she stayed, we need to ask what it cost her to start over and what we are willing to do to help. Compassion has to look like action. Please sign this petition and demand real emergency support for domestic violence survivors trying to rebuild from zero.
