Petition updateReform Fulton County Development Authority - Mr Pitts appoint a good new board member

Well, Commission cut the DAFC per diem 25%!

As we've said all along, Fulton County Commissioners - by the legislature's design - have little sway over their Development Authority once they've appointed its board. (The only other power they discovered was setting the per diem rate that the board had been abusing.  They cut the rate from the unapproved $200 to $150, a slap on the wrist.)

Since their real power is  in appointing good people, Robb Pitts's failure to replace the now longest-serving DAFC board member is frustrating. Sam Bacote cheerleads for unnecessary giveaways in a recent Business Chronicle op-ed.  He went along to get along with many hundreds of millions in tax breaks and with board self-dealing for 12 years.  He pocketed more per diems himself than more ethical board members did. He tried to use a new $25k/member slush fund to gain support in the district where he's running for City Council.

We've told Robb Pitts all this. We've told him over 600 people have signed petitions. And he still he won't appoint a reformer to the board slot that he controls? A reformer who could make the difference on this new board between continued irresponsible developer tax breaks and putting resdients first.
