From Tragedy to Action: Call for Average Speed Cameras on A3083 Culdrose Road, Helston!
The Issue
The A3083 in Helston has become a tragic hotspot for road fatalities over the years, devastating families and communities alike. Local residents, RNAS Culdrose, commuters, and visitors all share this route. Over the years, we’ve lost loved ones, fathers, mothers, siblings, and friends to preventable accidents caused by speeding. With a pavement and cycle path, pedestrians and cyclists, especially, are also vulnerable, as the lack of speed restrictions creates a hostile and dangerous environment for all road users.
Without action, the heartbreaking pattern of accidents and loss will only continue. Each new tragedy not only takes lives but leaves families broken and communities grieving. By implementing a 60mph average speed camera, we can drastically reduce the likelihood of high-speed collisions and save lives. Imagine a safer A3083, a road where drivers are more mindful, residents feel protected, and families are spared the anguish of losing someone they love – especially at Christmas Time!! If we act now, we can create a future where the A3083 is no longer associated with unnecessary loss but instead becomes a safer and more reliable route for everyone.
We can’t afford to ignore this any longer. Recent incidents have highlighted the urgent need for action, and every day that passes without change puts more lives at risk. Average Speed Camera technology and resources to implement speed restrictions are readily available, and I believe the community are ready to support this change. By acting now, we can honor the memory of those we’ve lost and ensure their tragedies were not in vain. Join us in calling for immediate speed restrictions on the A3083 before another life is unnecessarily taken. Together, we can make a difference.
Let’s slow down, save lives, and protect our community. Sign the petition today.
