The Issue

“Bronx families survive on $30,000 while NYC leaves six-figure tech jobs unfilled. We’re asking the City to fund and host a 90-day CODE BX pilot that teaches split-second decision-making (EI) and tech skills—with school space, stipends, and employer MOUs.

Your signature is proof of demand and gives officials the political cover to move today.” the Bronx, families work hard, but $30,000 a year is not enough to survive, let alone thrive. At the same time, America has over 1 million unfilled tech jobs paying $90,000–$120,000+ — jobs in coding, AI, design, and cybersecurity.

Our kids are being left out of this future not because of a lack of talent, but because of a lack of access. They are growing up in survival mode, forced to make split-second decisions in environments where pride and trauma can mean life or death. Too often, these moments end in violence, pain, and generational scars.

The science is clear:

CODEBX

Toxic stress rewires the brain.

It makes impulsive reactions more likely and rational decision-making harder.
Emotional intelligence (EI) can be taught. Skills like self-awareness, self-control, and empathy can prevent violence, improve decision-making, and unlock leadership.
Tech skills are the pipeline. With the right training and mentorship, Bronx youth can step directly into six-figure careers that transform entire families.
That’s why we are calling on city and state officials, school leaders, and community stakeholders to support CODE BX — a Bronx-born initiative that pairs emotional intelligence training with cutting-edge tech education.

This is not charity. This is infrastructure:

Preventing violence before it starts.
Rewiring decision-making skills for life and leadership.
Creating pathways to six-figure careers in industries desperate for talent.
Every year we ignore this, another generation is locked out of the future. We can’t afford that.

What We’re Demanding
Investment in emotional intelligence + tech pipeline programs like CODE BX for Bronx schools and community centers.
Policy support to integrate decision-making and trauma-awareness curricula alongside STEM education.
Public-private partnerships with tech companies to create apprenticeships and hiring pipelines directly out of neighborhoods in The Bronx.

Why It Matters
The Bronx doesn’t need pity. It doesn’t need more empty programs. It needs pathways.

Pathways that stop the cycle of split-second violence.
Pathways that build resilience and leadership.
Pathways that connect our kids to the jobs that can change families and futures.

Call to Action
Sign this petition if you believe:

No child should be locked out of tomorrow’s opportunities.
Emotional intelligence is as critical as math or reading.
Bronx kids deserve more than survival — they deserve six-figure futures.
Together, we can send a message loud enough to reach City Hall, Albany, and beyond: Legacy is the new currency. Let’s build it, together.
