Make Friendsgiving a National Holiday

The Issue

Friends = Family. So why shouldn’t we have an official holiday to celebrate that? At Graza, we are in LOVE with Friendsgiving. Life takes A LOT of twists and turns these days. We move away from home, we change jobs, we miss our families—or we’re constantly in pursuit of crafting our OWN versions of family.

A recent poll showed Americans attend not just one, but two Thanksgivings a season on average—and that number jumps to three (!) for multicultural families. Another revealed seven out of ten prefer Friendsgiving to Thanksgiving. In other words, the ways we come together to celebrate are changing.

To make space for new traditions, new recipes, and new definitions of family. To better include communities that often get left behind during the traditional holiday season. And we’re always looking for ways to come together (especially around food). You deserve a(nother) day off—to take a step back and feel empowered to gather with your community.

Whether you’ve shared a google spreadsheet with your ten nearest and dearest months in advance, or your potluck was half-takeout and everyone brought their dinner plate from home (or if this is the first time you’ve even considered one)—at the end of the night it’s about coming together. In whatever form that takes. Join us in finding the time this year, and every year to come, to sit, laugh, eat, and eat more with, well…. With anyone YOU WANT.

So clear your calendars! Because we're petitioning for the 2nd Friday of every November to be a national holiday dedicated to FRIENDS. Join us by signing today!

Andrew BeninPetition StarterEvery kitchen deserves good, fresh olive oil that’s affordable enough to be used every day. Our single origin oils do just that. We’re here because of our love for cooking and our firm belief that everything tastes better when there's olive oil involved.
