FUSD has allowed the decline of the FHS Aquatics program for three years. Each year the program has gotten progressively worse. The girls side was wiped out when Coach Lopez and Coach Birkle were illegally pushed out. Now I am devastated to report that the boys no longer have enough participation or morale to field a team. My son’s sophomore year is going to be crap.

There were 7 boys on the team, enough for a game with ZERO subs. Kids were getting cramps because they are not physically prepared for their games. Not prepared because of the poor coaching they receive. Two boys are ineligible. Which means there is no longer a boys team. 

Even if the current coaches were to aggressively recruit, there is a two week mandatory practice requirement that must be met before they can play in a game. Not to mention new recruits can not be prepared for varsity water polo in two weeks. The lack of preparation is a major failure on both the coaches and FHS administration.

It’s time for us to get more aggressive and louder. It’s clear that FHS and FUSD could care less about these student athletes.  It’s an embarrassing shit show to us and FUSD, and our kids deserve better.
