Good morning,

We have every reason to believe that FUSD will ignore this petition, like they have with most efforts in this situation. Warriors FIGHT back, sharing is the strongest form of support. Ways to share:

  • Text and dm the petition to individuals.
  • Share on social media with the reason(s) this is important to you. Tag FHS alumni and anyone else who you believe will support this petition. Tagging on social media creates an alert to the person.
Share on relevant social media groups. Alumni groups, parent groups, Fresno specific groups, etc..
  • Donate to the petition.
  • Yard signs have been donated to this cause and will arrive this week. If you would like to display one, please let me know.
  • If you are an FHS alumni, share your class in the comments. My husband graduated from FHS in 1992. Coach Lopez is class of 1998.

The second update on the dyer need for FUSD to take this seriously is regarding the improper hiring of Coach Lopez’s replacement, Annika Knutson. During the FUSD investigation, aimed at avoiding liability, the evidence was so abundant regarding her hiring that they had no choice but to sustain it. Why would the former FHS administration skip the proper hiring process? I believe this was part of their overall plan to push out the old program after receiving a $5,000 donation from the other club to the principal's general fund. It’s not a coincidence that their investigation letter omitted that she is a coach for the club that interfered in this program in the first place.

Years later Coach Lopez’s replacement has proven to be unqualified and unable to build a holistic program. She is unable to recruit the numbers of the prior program, has not provided any offseason opportunities for the girls, does NOT understand the game of water polo, and has openly made it clear to athletes that “mornings are for masters”!

Coach Lopez was able to demonstrate proven results that there is a demand for aquatic sports with the current FUSD student population, even with little support from FHS administration. Imagine how different the program would be today if she had been able to continue her mission. Our kids deserve this opportunity that comes with HOLISTIC programs like hers.

Thank you to everyone who has read, signed, shared, and donated money to this petition. Grassroots efforts are difficult to get up and running but are proven to make the needed change the community wants.

Thank you,

Cresta
