UPDATE # 33: New York Court weighing whether elephant Happy at Bronx Zoo is entitled to "personhood" and should be granted freedom to go to a sanctuary.

For 16 years Happy the elephant has lived alone on 1-acre The Bronx Zoo. The New York Court of Appeals, New York State's highest court heard the Nonhuman Rights Project's historic case for Happy's rights and freedom on 5/18. Happy needs to be in a sanctuary with other elephants and not locked up in an animal prison.
