Freedom for Idris Hasan - No innocent person should stay in prison

Freedom for Idris Hasan - No innocent person should stay in prison
Das Problem
Idris Hasan (official name: Yidiresi Aishan) is a Chinese citizen of Muslim faith belonging to the Uyghur people. He was arrested on the night of 19 July 2021 in Morocco, at Casablanca airport, on the basis of a Red Notice issued by Interpol, the international criminal police organization, at the request of the Chinese authorities.
The Chinese authorities consider him to be a "terrorist" because of the peaceful activities he has carried out on behalf of Uyghur organizations to defend the rights of his people. Chinese law defines the terms "terrorism" and "extremism" very broadly and vaguely. Their aim: to persecute Uyghurs and other Muslim ethnic minorities.
The pacifist Idris Hasan has never sought to harm anyone and has never carried out any terrorist activities. He has peacefully defended the right of his people to live freely in their homeland, East Turkistan, located in north-west China, a part of the world that has been deprived of its legitimate sovereignty and whose inhabitants are not allowed to speak their mother tongue or practice their religion, Islam. The Chinese authorities brutally oppose it.
Interpol acknowledged its mistake 23 days after issuing this Red Notice, cancelled the Red Notice for non-compliance with its Constitution, and also asked the Moroccan authorities to release Idris Hasan. Admittedly, by not sending Idris Hasan back to China, the Moroccan authorities have saved him from torture and certain death. But the fact remains that Idris Hasan is locked up in a Moroccan prison for a crime he did not commit.
As a result, his wife Zeynur Obul has to provide for their three children alone, who are deprived of their father's presence. Idris Hasan's family remained in Turkey. Initially, Idris Hasan was not even supposed to travel to Morocco. He was forced to flee Turkey because he was arrested four times for helping other Uyghurs in Turkey to report on the human rights situation in their country. He then only transited through Morocco on his way to the Netherlands. Idris Hasan is a faithful, hard-working man who wants to be a good father. How much longer will his family be deprived of a loving father and husband?
Until today, the case of Idris Hasan is pending in front of the UN Committee Against Torture whose decision is crucial. As defenders of Uyghur rights, we do not want Idris Hasan's case to be forgotten, nor do we want to believe that all hope is in vain. This is why we are asking the UN Committee Against Torture to demand the release of Idris Hasan to the Moroccan authorities, while ensuring that Idris Hasan is not sent back to China.
What do we want? Freedom and safety for Idris Hasan. Together, our voice is more audible. So if you too would like to call for the release of the pacifist Idris Hasan, please sign this petition. Thank you so much.
