FreeAbdus Update: We Received a Response. We Are Still Asking for Action.

Thank you to everyone who signed our petition and emailed Connecticut officials demanding justice for Ismail Abdus-Sabur.

We received a response from Chief State’s Attorney Patrick Griffin’s office acknowledging our October 13 correspondence. The Division of Criminal Justice stated that Ismail’s case involves a pending appeal and habeas action and that prosecutors do not discuss pending cases outside official court filings and proceedings.

To be clear: we are not asking for a discussion of the case. We are begging them to take action to vacate all charges and release Ismail to his family.

Their response acknowledges our correspondence, but it does not address our demand for relief. Behind every email is a family still waiting, children still missing their father, and time that can never be returned.

The state’s responsibility is to seek justice. We will continue calling for accountability and Ismail’s freedom.
