Bees, strawberries, peanut butter—these are things that seem harmless enough to many. But without an epipen, they can be a death sentence to so many more. But what happens if you don’t have the money to afford this life saving device?

Epipens used to be about $50. But when Mylan pharmaceuticals acquired the patent, prices skyrocketed. They have soared over 500% in the past decade and a two pen pack can costs an average of $700.

At a high estimate, it would only cost $30 to produce a pen. So why are the prices so high?

Additionally, Mylan had been lobbying for years to prevent less expensive, generic versions of the EpiPen from being FDA approved. Their actions are atrocious and amoral.
