Masalahnya

I pee a lot, and there's nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable, distracted, and helpless when a teacher denies my request to use the toilet. This isn't just about me—students everywhere face the indignity of having this basic necessity so needlessly restricted. We are taught that school is a place for learning and growth, yet denying access to bathrooms hinders our focus and health.

Restricting bathroom access can have serious health consequences. Holding in urine can lead to urinary tract infections, bladder infections, and kidney problems. For students, especially those with medical conditions such as diabetes, pregnancy, or urinary disorders, access to a bathroom isn't just about comfort; it's about health and safety. According to research conducted by the American Urological Association, delaying bathroom use can exacerbate or cause these serious conditions.

Moreover, it's a human rights issue. According to Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for health and well-being, which includes necessary medical and physical needs, like sanitary conditions. Schools should therefore recognize the physiological and health needs of their students and staff.

To solve this pressing issue, I call on educational institutions to implement a 'free bathroom access' policy, which acknowledges the right of students to use the restroom freely during school hours. Schools should also make provisions for students with medical needs to ensure their specific requirements are respected.

The solution is simple and effective: Rather than having punitive measures or arbitrary limits on bathroom use, schools can utilize hall passes or a sign-out system to track students while still ensuring they have uninterrupted access to this essential facility. This will guarantee security and order while prioritizing student health and dignity.

Join me in urging school boards, principals, and teachers to make free access to school bathrooms a right and not a privilege. Sign this petition to demand action and protect the health and dignity of our students.
