We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the increasing attacks on Richard Medhurst and independent journalists by governments around the world. These attacks include arrests, detentions, and other forms of harassment, often for simply reporting information that contradicts the official narrative.

We believe that a free press is essential for a healthy democracy. Journalists play a vital role in holding those in power accountable and informing the public. When journalists are silenced, we all suffer.

We call on governments to respect the rights of journalists and to stop these attacks immediately. We also call on international organizations to take action to protect journalists and to hold governments accountable for their actions.
