Free public transport for international students in the Netherlands

Free public transport for international students in the Netherlands
The Issue
International students moving to the Netherlands for studies are suffering day by day. They have to deal with high rent, tuition fees, and consistent exorbitant public transport costs. It is unfair that Dutch students are able to travel for free but internationals need to be working for 56 hours per month in order to apply for the student travel product to travel freely. This does not even apply to non EU/EEA students. It should be equal for all. Matter of fact, internationals are already struggling by having to move abroad. It is a both a daunting and a very expensive journey, they should at least have same priviledges as other students have, regardless of nationality.
Everyone should have access to equal educational opportunities, it is the student status that should be assessed when considering if one qualifies for the student travel product, not nationality.
We should be helping anyone who wants to receive education, not create more obstacles by implementing different criteria.
Nationality is irrelevant. We are all students of Dutch universities, we should have the same rights to free public transport!
Public transport in the Netherlands is very expensive and not affordable for students.
The Dutch government should be aiding international students in their journey and assisting them during their studies in the Netherlands!
