The Issue
Paul Watson, who is a cofounder of Greenpeace, founder of Sea Shepherd, and founder of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation has been arrested in Greenland by Danish officials. This morning (July 21st), in Nuuk, Greenland Danish officials ambushed and arrested Captain Paul Watson on board his flagship, The “M/Y John Paul DeJoria”. He is currently in a local police station, his crew members have no way of contacting him at the moment. It is suspected that the arrest is related to a former red notice issued by Japan, which disappeared months ago. It was issued for his previous interventions in the Antarctic Whaling Sanctuary.
Captain Paul Watson was on his way on his journey through the northwest passage to get to the North Pacific in preparation for his newest mission, “operation Kangei Maru”. This mission is intended to hinder the Japanese factory whaling ship, the “Kangei Maru” in the event that it takes to international waters in the North Pacific. There is meant to be another ship docked in Australia in case Japan returns to the Antarctic whale sanctuary.
Please sign this petition to release Captain Paul Watson from Greenland in time to stop Japan with their latest whaling ship. If the Captain Paul Watson Foundation cannot get to the North Pacific before the “Kangei Maru” is released into international waters they could go unchecked in their pursuit of whales.
