Help Bring Home a Veterans 11-Year-old Rescue Dog After a Brief Leash Slip

Help Bring Home a Veterans 11-Year-old Rescue Dog After a Brief Leash Slip
The Issue
Our family is deeply connected to our dog, a loyal farm-dog and companion who was unjustly taken from our property amidst ongoing tension with our neighbors. My husband formed a special bond with her during a military deployment in the Middle East, on the border of what was then ISIS territory, bringing her back to be a beloved part of our family. For a decade, she has brought joy, love, and protection to our home.
Two years ago, we began to face profound hostility in the neighborhood to which we had moved due to our farm animals. It was hard being received in our new community with bullying, gossip, and harassment. It had already taken a deep psychological and emotional toll on us before culminating last week when our beloved dog Lucy was taken by Animal Control after repeated complaints by a handful of neighbors who simply resent our presence here. She did nothing wrong. She just slipped off her leash for a few seconds. A passerby, a local attorney's wife, escalated it to the authorities. Now, at 11 years old, Lucy is unjustly confined in a shelter; confused, lonely, and awaiting death for doing nothing but barking - something all dogs do!
We have until May 8th to secure her release, but we urgently need your help. Our dog deserves to spend her later years with her family, who loves and cares for her deeply. We are asking for your support to bring her home, where she belongs.
Our Lucy, named after the Arabic "Pearl of the Desert", is a symbol of resilience and love. She survived the harsh environment of the Middle East, escaping terrorists, Bedouins, and packs of wild dogs, to bond with her soldier-daddy and make it home to a loving family. She has never known a day away from us or the farm, and she should not be kept in a cage away from her family any longer. Her veteran-owner should NOT have to face to prospect of losing his longtime battle-buddy after spending years away from family in service to his country and its people, including the very neighbors who have been the cause for this suffering. Please help us stand against this injustice by showing your support!
Sign this petition to urge our local authorities and the shelter to release her back into our care — she deserves the peace and comfort of home after all she’s been through.
