When Joe spoke to Lindsay this morning we were pleased to learn that things have quietened down significantly and only one explosion was heard yesterday. Thank goodness the bombs have stopped dropping at this time. Long may this last.

As the ceasefire takes hold, and with Keir Starmer in diplomatic talks in the Gulf, Joe has called for Lindsay and Craig to be placed on the formal agenda of all relevant discussions this week.

Recent developments underline what is possible when cases like this are prioritised at the highest political level. French nationals Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris are now back in France following sustained diplomatic efforts led directly by President Emmanuel Macron. Their release demonstrates that coordinated, high-level political engagement can deliver results in even the most complex cases.

This week presents a rare and critical diplomatic window for Lindsay and Craig Foreman but will the UK Prime Minister follow the positive example shown by France?

Yvette Cooper has already stated that the sentences handed to Lindsay and Craig are “completely appalling and totally unjustifiable” and has committed to pursuing their release. This is the UK Government’s opportunity to follow through with tangible action.

Despite sustained efforts by the family, including UN legal submissions, significant cross-party parliamentary support, several meetings with the Foreign Secretary and a hearing into their case by UK Parliamentarians from the APPG on arbitrary detention and hostage affairs, there has as yet been no visible progress towards securing their release.

This ceasefire creates diplomatic momentum. That momentum must now be used to secure humanitarian outcomes on their behalf.

Please continue to share the petition and ask others to sign so that we can show the weight of public support to encourage the politicians to act. Thank you also for your donations which enable us to continue this campaign.

With our warmest wishes from the family and friends of Lindsay and Craig.
