Dear Friends
We wanted to update you at this worrying time. We are still in contact with Lindsay and Craig although it has been limited and inconsistent in the past week. When calls do happen they mean everything, but they also underline how little control they have over even the basics. We are deeply worried. Any instability increases the uncertainty for detainees, and it heightens the risk that people like Lindsay and Craig are forgotten or used as leverage behind closed doors. For the family, it is exhausting living with that constant fear, and it is getting harder to accept the gap between the pace of events and the pace of official action.
We have not been given a clear plan that matches the seriousness of the situation. We keep hearing process, policy, and general assurances, but not the detail we need on who is responsible, what the strategy is, and what changes now that the embassy is closed. If the UK cannot operate normally on the ground, then the Government has to show what it is doing instead, what channels it is using, and what protections it is putting in place. Right now, that clarity is still missing.
Lindsay, Craig and their families are trying to stay strong, and we are doing everything we can to keep pressure on so they are not left in limbo. Our message is simple. This is exactly when the Government should be stepping up, not stepping back. It is now ever more important that we hold our Government to account. Please act now to help them be heard. Please share the petition and ask others to sign, share the word and continue to support in any way you can.
With our great thanks.
The friends and family of Lindsay and Craig
