Earlier this month, Julian Assange’s father and brother - John and Gabriel Shipton, went to Canberra and raised their concerns about little progress being made since the May election. They urged the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese to make the issue “non-negotiable” with the US.

They also met with many MPs and Senators who are supporting actions to bring Julian Assange home. The Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Group will re-form and will continue to be chaired by Andrew Wilkie, Independent Federal Member for Clark.

We need many more voices in the Parliament advocating the government to raise the issue internationally. Quiet diplomacy has not brought about solid results, we need Australia to politically lobby the US and UK.

Can you email your MP to support actions to free Julian Assange?

According to an exclusive Essential research poll, it has been revealed that Australians strongly support the return of Julian Assange to his home country: of those who are aware of Assange’s current circumstances, 88% either support calls for him to be returned to Australia or are undecided.

We know the new government cares about the issue. Prime Minister Anothony Albanese, who's a signatory to this petition has also met with Julian's dad, John Shipton a number of times when he was still Opposition leader. Now, we just need to demonstrate that most Australians want him to do the right thing by asking our representatives to take our voices to the PM.
