I am a 24-year-old Iranian man.
From the age of 18—when what was supposed to be the best years of my youth should have begun—my life started with the COVID-19 pandemic.
We fought through it.
Then for nearly four years, as prices in Iran kept rising day by day because of the Islamic Republic’s missiles and policies, I tried to pull myself together and move forward—until war began.
Protests, a revolution, killings, repression, economic pressure, sanctions, inflation—I witnessed everything.
And in these four years, I couldn’t make any progress in my life.
We, the young people of Iran, went into the streets to demand a free life—like the one you have.
But instead, we were shot with live ammunition by our own government’s police forces.
We lost around 50,000 people, with countless severe injuries and casualties.
And in the end, the Islamic Republic labeled us—the protesters—and our murdered brothers and sisters as “terrorists.”
