Prof. Lazare Sebitereko Rukundwa is a Theologian Professor and Rector of Eben-Ezer University in Minembwe, Eastern DRC. Since June 2023, Lazare has been held in prison by the DRC authorities without charge or trial based on false and unfounded accusations. 

A passionate community leader in rural area of High Plateau zones in South-Kivu province, Lazare has worked tirelessly for post conflict reconciliation between all ethnic groups involved in conflict and has represented their views in different reconciliation meetings as one of the members of civil society.

Since his arrest more than a year ago, Lazare has not received any proper medical care and his physical health is now rapidly deteriorating.
