Help DeAndre "Solja Lizk" Rogers Get Resentenced! #LifeAfterMusicVideoDrops
The Issue
On behalf of Deandre Rogers “Solja Lizk”, we strongly urge the Sacramento District Attorney's Office to request re-sentencing for Mr. Rogers, who is serving a 30-year to life sentence under the Three Strikes Law for possession of a firearm by a felon.
Due to probation he was on GPS Monitoring. On December 15, 2016 (the day after the release of his music video "No Air"), cops converged on him in the parking lot of a sushi bar/grill restaurant where he was eating with friends. In two separate vehicles (which multiple people had access to), no one on scene stated that either firearm belonged to him nor did any police officer see him with one. Yet and still he was arrested. Deandre had prior “strike” convictions for a prior felony. Rogers received 30-years to life in prison, and has been incarcerated for 7 years.
If not for the Three Strikes Law, the maximum sentence Rogers could face for possession of a firearm by a felon is three years in prison. If added together, the maximum of all three of Roger’s Strikes is 12 years in prison. Legally, Roger’s third strike is a nonviolent offense, yet the California Court of Appeals ruled that Rogers was ineligible for parole under Prop 57.
DeAndre is truly remorseful for any harm his unwise choices caused to all those effected. He doesn't make excuses and accepts full responsibility for his actions. He has remained positive regardless of his circumstances. He has love for basketball and has used it as one of many means to rehabilitate and better himself. In his 7 years of incarceration, Rogers has been working on rehabilitating himself through countless hours of participating in programming, self-help courses, and personal growth outside of programming. As well as maintaining strong relationships with his wife and 3 children by getting weekly visits which helps with his rehabilitation process. Some of Deandre’s favorite books is The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, which details how to change your life by using the law of attraction, The Journey To The Sensor Of The Reality of I by Tania Costos, and Three magic words by U.S Andersen.
We are asking that Rogers gets re-sentenced based on his disproportionate sentence and time served as a nonviolent offender. "I am not asking to be re-sentenced based on good behavior or exceptional conduct. I am asking for a sentence that is deserving of the crime." , said Deandre Rogers. We respectfully urge the Sacramento District Attorney's Office and CDCR to immediately grant Rogers request for re-sentencing in the interest of justice.
