Free Captive Lions in Malta and Demand Action

The Issue

Three months ago, the Vuci Ghall-Annimali program shocked Malta with the discovery of four lions and a panther living on a farm in Naxxar. The revelations stirred emotions among animal lovers and initiated a wave of concern across the country.

Today, as Malta celebrates Freedom Day, we find ourselves compelled to once again draw attention to the suffering of these magnificent creatures. Their plight remains unchanged, and while Malta rejoices in its liberty, these innocent animals remain unjustly imprisoned without any foreseeable solution.

As a passionate advocate for animal rights, the welfare of the Naxxar lions is deeply personal. We can't stand by while these animals, who deserve to roam free in their natural habitats, languish in unsuitable conditions. For too long, their cries for freedom have gone unheard, ignored by those in power who have the means to implement change.

Lions and panthers are not just exotic animals; they symbolize majesty and freedom. Yet, in Naxxar, their lives are a stark contradiction to what they represent. They are confined, suffering, and deprived of the very essence of their being – their freedom.

We demand that the authorities take immediate action to relocate these lions to international sanctuaries where they can finally live with dignity. It is unacceptable that their suffering continues to be ignored when viable solutions exist.

We urge the Maltese government and the relevant entities to fulfill their duty and act now before more time is lost, at the expense of these innocent creatures.

Every day these animals remain in captivity is another day of suffering. It is an injustice that stains Malta’s commitment to freedom and compassion. Therefore, it is crucial that we raise our voices loudly and clearly to demand change.

Join us in urging the Maltese authorities to act now. Let us stand together to ensure that the Naxxar lions and their companions finally experience the freedom they so rightfully deserve.
