Partial Success is a bit unsatisfying

I was contacted by Frederick New Post a day or two after I started this petition. FNP acknowledged it can be frustrating to continue to receive the FCC after repeated requests for it to stop saying, "it’s a challenge to exclude specific houses from a free delivery route" and listed some valid reasons. In the nearly 4 weeks since, I have not seen FCC delivered to my neighborhood, so I'm assuming the subdivision I live in has been excluded entirely. Apologies to the ones who still wanted FCC delivered.

FNP did not respond to my follow up. I was hoping to help others find a way to opt out, but I don't think there's any success to be had there.

More from my email from FNP:

"Losing the ability to distribute the publication would, however, be a major blow to the preservation of local journalism in Frederick." [Presumably because the income stream generated by the ads in the FCC provides significant financial underpinning for FNP's larger operation.]

"...at a time when local journalism is hanging on by a thread, and when we can clearly see the terrible cost to our democracy of journalism deserts, this extra frustration is what has you exercised?" [The individual was frustrated that I didn't make better efforts to stop delivery, but I had done everything available to any other FredCo resident and attempted to contact people at FNP I know personally but got nowhere. This statement assumes my problem with receiving the FCC is purely selfish and that I don't want to take a few extra steps to throw it in the trash. My environmental concerns were completely ignored in the conversation. Individuals are plenty capable of being active in multiple concerns simultaneously, and their attitude toward my efforts was a little insulting, especially since FNP failed to continue the discussion.]

"For what it’s worth, another way not to get the FCC is to sign up for a subscription to the News-Post." [This was the final line in FNP's email. I'm a bit baffled by this. It's challenging to exclude delivery from specific houses on a free delivery route... unless they're paying customers? I can't tell if this was meant to be tongue in cheek, but it doesn't make sense either way.]
