I, along with countless others, view instances of violent crime as acts of terror against humanity. Having seen the devastating effects this can have on individuals and society as a whole, it's become deeply personal to me. Violence, without remorse or respect, impacts lives indiscriminately, from the common person to celebrities.

Violent crime doesn't discriminate. According to the National Institute of Justice, an estimated 1.2 million violent crimes occurred nationwide in 2019. What's worse, the celebrity status can sometimes make individuals, even more, a target for these violent criminals, as they are often in the public eye and their movements can be easily tracked.

And yet, despite the prevalence of violent crime, measures to tackle this scourge have often been insufficient. This is especially true when it comes to helping individuals understand how they can protect themselves, and stepping up efforts to bring violent criminals to justice.

More needs to be done – and that starts with every single one of us insisting on change. We must petition our lawmakers to fortify existing laws and establish stronger policies to protect all individuals, including celebrities, from such acts of senseless violence.
