Justice For Randell Meyers

The Issue

On Sunday, January 2nd, 2022, Gary Hilyer murdered Randell Meyers in cold blood in Fort Payne, AL. Randell Meyers’ service was held on January 8th, 2022. His killer, Gary Hilyer, is still free.

Gary Hilyer requested Randell Meyers come to his place of business, “Wheels”, on a day the business was closed. Gary Hilyer met Randell Meyers there with the intent to murder him. Randell Meyers was fatally shot by Gary Hilyer. Gary Hilyer came there that morning with a weapon; with a gun. Randell Meyers’ only intention was to grab his belongings after Gary Hilyer let him know he could. Unfortunately, he did not leave that day with his tools nor his life. The Fort Payne Police Department arrived to the scene after a witness called it in. Gary Hilyer was on scene with the murder weapon and with not a scratch on him when the Fort Payne Police Department arrived.

Gary Hilyer was not charged with anything. Gary Hilyer should have been charged and then he could attempt to defend himself - unlike the chance he gave Randell Meyers. Instead Gary Hilyer is out on the streets making more threats. All of Fort Payne, AL, says Gary Hilyer is a poor man who runs the town all because he has multiple businesses and used to have money. The people close to this case and those are just learning of it are worried that he may get away with it due to his “pockets” and “status.” Gary Hilyer has been called a crook, a coward, and a sinister man by those closest to him. Randell Meyers was not his first victim. In 2010, a pregnant woman and her unborn baby were killed while in his home. The family sued him for wrongful death. We can not let Gary Hilyer get away with this.

Randell Meyers was a good man. Randell Meyers believed in God and shared his love with everyone he met. Randell Meyers was saved and believed any person could be saved too. Randell Meyers was a devoted husband, loving father/step-dad, and a passionate pop/paw-paw. Randell Meyers was an involved son, brother, and uncle. Randell Meyers’ greatest joys was being around the ones he loved. He is missed by everyone so deeply. His story and life will go on even after this tragic event.

The people of Fort Payne and all of his family/friends, all over the world, want Justice to happen. They are hurt and heartbroken over the loss of their loved one. Randell Meyers’ death was the most unexpected crime they never saw coming. Please sign in hopes the Fort Payne Police Department will take swift action in getting this killer off the street!
