FORCE ENERGEX TO REFUND ACCESS FEES WHEN THEY TURN THE ELECTRICITY OFF
The issue
My house was destroyed during the 2011 floods in Brisbane/Ipswich. When my house was destroyed, Energex shut the electricity off, and it stayed off for a couple of years while I rebuilt the house.
Origin Energy continued to bill me, and even after knowing the house was abandoned, kept sending mail to the house concerning the fees it kept on charging. They then took it to court, without me knowing, and obtained a judgement against me that affected my credit rating - which I did not know about for several years until I tried to apply for credit.
Energex won't accept liability for the situation, because they KNOW that the Energy Ombudsman does not deal with supply issues including charging access fees fraudulently.
The Energy Ombudsman rejected my complaint to them.
I wrote to the State Energy Minister, who responded basically saying 'too bad' it's a fee, not something we are interested in doing anything about...
The thing is, the largest shareholder of ENERGEX happens to be the State Government! No wonder they don't want to do anything about it.
In my dealings with Origin Energy, they have attempted to do many tricks, including denying I was a customer at the time! Unfortunately for them, I have caught them out lying multiple times.
There should be consequences for this, because their behaviour amounts to attempting to pervert the course of justice! But they know that no agency can do anything about it.
IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE. THESE ISSUES SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE REFERRED TO AN AGENCY FOR PROSECUTION. IT IS NOTHING LESS THAN FRAUD
