Hello,
This is my contribution to Citizen's Discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting:
Good morning,
Why did the city and the Broadmoor do the land swap in 2016?
The Broadmoor wanted Strawberry Fields for stables so they could offer horseback riding to their guests.
NOPE!
I don't think so.
Have any of you ever ridden any Broadmoor Horses there?
Would the city please tell us why the Broadmoor has not constructed stables?
Any theories?
The Manitou Incline is not legal, and since the land swap, no private entity owns a revocable license for any part of the Incline.
Did the Cog Railway or the City of Manitou Springs suffer any kind of harm from the land being cut off from the Cog Railway?
Is there a pattern of harm being done to Manitou Springs, and or the Cog Railway?
The Broadmoor leveraged Manitou Springs into giving tax breaks to the Cog Railway.
That was the only way to justify spending “$100,000,000” to rebuild the tracks!
Now our city is about to strip Manitou Springs of somewhere between 25% and 50% of their annual tax revenue.
Will citizens be surprised to read of layoffs and service reductions in that city?
Or will there be little to no mention of that in our media?
Manitou Springs is a very special community.
Unique and gifted.
Deserving of respect.
Let us reverse the land swap and apologize to them now.
Thank you, Carl Strow
