Hello,
This is my contribution to Citizen's Discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting:
Good morning,
One of my favorite questions about the land swap goes like this “Did the city learn during the public comment process that the appraisal submitted by the Broadmoor was invalid”?
I believe that the answer is yes.
I also believe that by the end of the public comment process the Broadmoor also knew that their appraisal for the land owned by the Cog Railway was invalid.
This leads us to what appears to be collusion between the city and the Broadmoor.
Why is the city so afraid of my question?
What is the estimated cost of all necessary repairs on the section of the Barr Trail that we acquired in the land swap?
Does the city claim that they do not know the answer to my question?
Does the city claim that they do not have a legal obligation to answer this question?
We are now discussing the possibility of closing that trail permanently and building a replacement trail.
We just acquired that land for $1.3 million 6 years ago.
I asked for the cost of all needed repairs during the public comment process.
If the trail is in such bad shape that we must consider closing it permanently that is proof that my question was, and still is relevant.
That alone is enough to invalidate the public comment process.
The city failed to provide relevant financial information that was requested by the public.
You must now inform the public of this error and provide the financial information that was withheld during the public comment process.
Thank you, Carl Strow
