Hello everyone,

Yesterday was a very sad anniversary. Indeed, it has been three months since Russia invaded Ukraine. Even if the Russian troops have failed to bring down the government and take over Kyiv and most of Ukraine, they continue to occupy many regions and cities, committing new war crimes and mass murders, as we discover after each liberation of towns and villages by the Ukrainian army.

The Russian army is currently bombarding many Ukrainian cities and seeking to conquer new territories on the Eastern front, preparing the annexation of the occupied areas in the south of the country, and continuing to kill, torture, and deport many Ukrainian civilians. Our support must not weaken, it must even intensify. We must help the Ukrainians win this war.

Despite the intensity of the fighting, the will of the Ukrainians to join the European family is not weakening, quite the contrary. According to a poll dated April 5, 91% of Ukrainians aspire to join the European Union.

The European Commission is currently evaluating Ukraine's application. The idea is of course not to immediately bring Ukraine into the EU but to decide whether or not to officially grant the status of EU candidate state to Ukraine. This is a necessary step in order to be able to start negotiations towards joining the EU. When the Commission will have delivered its opinion, it will be up to the European Parliament and the leaders of EU Member States to decide.

We already know that Ukraine's candidacy will be on the agenda of the next European Council meeting scheduled for June 23 and 24. The Member States should thus officially decide on granting the status of candidate of Ukraine to the EU. It is difficult to know if all the countries will be in favor of it, but the unanimity of the Member States is required. This is why it is extremely important to show that European citizens want Ukraine to join our European family and obtain the official status of EU candidate as of June 24. If we show massive support for this cause, then our leaders will have to follow us.

This petition must therefore grow even more! Please share it on social networks, with your friends, your family. You can convince your loved ones and even the skeptical ones. Your support is crucial so that Ukraine's European future can be officially affirmed and so that they can then move on to the next stage, that of negotiations.
